SparkLearn® 5.0.0 Release Notes

SparkLearn 5.0.0 is now available. This update introduces an entirely revamped Content Manager Experience as well as more advanced AI features to deliver even better responses to learners based on their access levels.  

A Completely Redesigned Administration and Content Management system:

The administration and content management experience has been fully redesigned to make managing SparkLearn easier and streamline everyday tasks.

  • Lighter and Easier to Read Content Manager: The content manager view has a new visual design that is lighter and easier to read.
  • Modified Layout: The overall layout has been modified to improve navigation, making everything easier to find and use.
  • Enhanced Usability: Every screen has been updated with ease of use as a core focus.
  • Updated Resources for the New Interface:
    • New In-Product Tours: The in-product tours have been updated to reflect the new User Interface across the entire application.
    • Knowledge Base Update: The Knowledge Base is being updated to match the new experience.

The AI Chat has been dramatically upgraded, delivering a smarter, more secure, and personalized experience for every learner.

  • Respects All Permissions: The AI will only surface information that the learner is authorized to see. If the answer to a question lives in content the learner lacks access to, the AI will not reveal it. Group permissions are fully enforced.
  • Personalized Assignments: Learners can now ask the AI about their assigned training. They can inquire, "What training do I have assigned?" and receive a real answer, complete with due dates. They can also ask, "What should I start with?" for personalized recommendations drawn from the same data that powers their dashboard.
  • Precise Source Citations: The AI cites only the specific sources it actually used to generate the answer. Earlier versions often listed every document scanned; now, citations are clean, relevant, and free of noise or phantom references.That means you have a genuine record of what was asked, what sources were cited, and how learners engaged with the AI's responses.
  • Activity Tracking: Every interaction with the AI is now fully tracked in xAPI.

Mobile App-Specific Updates:

  • Improved how redirects are handled within the app
  • Improved handling for links that try to open content in a new window

Known Issues 

  • The entity browser loses selection when changing pages
  • The learner is unable to view the glossary definition if the term is included within an annotation
  • Navigation bar titles cannot be seen on iOS when the text color is set to a light color
